The G.R.A.C.E. Center
staff has a variety of treatment methods in the toolbox, which they put at the
service of the people who come to them for help.
Individual counseling, one on one meetings with an experienced counselor, is
perhaps best known, but the agency also offers a variety of "Problem Resolution
Groups" such as: Women's Issues, Substance Abuse, Parenting Struggles, etc., in
which small groups of people with similar problems help one another with the
assistance of a trained counselor.
When circumstances permit (or demand), our staff members also offer spiritual
counseling as appropriate, and are available for leading retreats or workshops.
Presentations at such events might be on topics related to substance abuse,
mental wellness, or anger management. These unique educational offerings
provide and opportunity for new learning as well as deeper reflection on a
variety of individual problems. These presentations are apt for schools, church
groups, businesses, and the like.
A REFLECTION ON TREATMENT MODELS
Most of us are aware of the "clinical" model of treatment, which typically
features a white-coated expert with numerous degrees and awards on the wall, and
who sits safely behind a desk where he or she diagnoses your difficulty and as
and expert, tells you what's wrong with you and what to do about it.
G.R.A.C.E. Center staff operates from the "growth " model, which presumes that
we're all human and we're all in this together. The "growth" model also presumes
that you are the greatest expert on your life and the counselor is there to help
you unpack the knowledge and the solutions you already carry within you. In this
model, the counselor is just as apt to grow more human along with the client.
